LOL

October 10, 2008

“The most useless day of all is that in which we have not laughed.”

Sebastian R.N. Champort

I’ve heard it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile.  That people who laugh, live longer and where there is laughter there is life.  Here’s a new one, children laugh about 146 times a day, adults laugh only 4 times a day.  Put more laughter in your day.

My family has always been able to have a good long hard laugh.  LOL! JMD

Honesty

“No legacy is so rich as honesty.”

-William Shakespeare

One thing my mother absolutely hated was a lie.  She demanded the truth and so do I. Of course, it helps to know the bible says, the truth will set you free.  JMD

“Success has always been easy to measure.  It is the distance between one’s origins and one’s final achievement.”

-Michael Korda

The key is doing the stuff in between where you came from and where you’re going.  Baby steps are okay.

Remember, it’s all about progress not perfection.  JMD

Habits

October 5, 2008

“A habit cannot be tossed out the window; it must be coaxed down the
stairs a step at a time.”

-Mark Twain

I started teaching group exercise classes in 1995.  This was after I dropped 100 lbs., I was on fire and determined to share this new love of working out.

Teaching classes was always a big part of my life, it was nothing to have a class a day.  I loved meeting new people and pushing them to reach their goals.  As a reporter, I enjoyed and needed the extra cash.   Of course, sweating was always a good way to reduce stress.

In October of 2006, perhaps burned out, I quit teaching.  I still worked out on my own, but I gained alot of weight.  I went from working out a few hours a day, mostly teaching classes, to three or four times on my own and eventually to several months of nada.  What I’m learning is 20 minutes a day is okay.  I’m looking for that happy middle.  JMD

Ignorance & Confidence
