“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
- Martin Luther King Jr.
Teacher
January 16, 2009
“What greater or better gift can we offer the republic than to teach and instruct our youth.”
- Cicero
I think of my great teachers almost everyday. The one’s who made learning fun and the one’s who could see the good things in me. Somewhere I learned
to show up, sit up close and pay attention, it helped to have an awesome teacher. Those three rules even got me through college. There’s a somewhat new idea
that not everyone has to go to a four year University, I say we need to focus on letting young people know their dreams are possible no matter what.

“In order for the light to shine so brightly,
the darkness must be present.”
- Francis Bacon
Someone once said, the better question to ask is why do good things happen to bad people
and not why do bad things happen to good people. Makes sense to me. JMD

January 10, 2009
“If you can’t be kind, at least be vague.”
- Judith Martin “Miss Manners”
If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
- My mom
Growing up with rules requiring me to be polite taught me how to bite my tongue. As a result, I am sometimes called Jamie, the silent one. On a bad day when
I’d speak out of turn, it was clearly explained how I had opened my mouth and inserted my foot. For these lessons I am most grateful. JMD

“I have always believed that God never gives a cross to bear larger than we can carry.
No matter what, he wants us to be happy, not sad. Birds sing after a storm. Why shouldn’t we?”
- Rose Kennedy

“Our greatest glory is not in never

- Ralph Waldo Emerson
