Thank you Mackenzie

September 24, 2009

“I understand that he was a very tortured man and … passed that torture down to me.”

- Mackenzie Phillips from High On Arrival

When I worked at the ABC affiliate in Corpus Christi I recall meeting Mackenzie Phillips. It was a quick interview and I forget what the event was all about, but I do remember so many people surrounding her for a glimpse.  For some reason, I also remember her being dressed in white and speaking with such authority and with a big smile.

Today, by speaking out and breaking her silence she is also breaking the curse of sexual abuse. Some people may not understand, but now that torture she writes about cannot be passed down.  JMD
