The truth

“Honesty is the truth we tell others, integrity is the truth we tell ourselves.”

-Unknown

I used to have a coach who would end every training session by telling us to, “just do the right thing”.

Courage, fools, & friends

Read, read, read

“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

- Dr. Seuss

I’m thankful to a Coach/History teacher who required we read the newspaper and write about three articles everyday.  It’s still a habit.  JMD

Better to give

Footprints

‘When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let
go, only 1 of 2 things will happen, either He’ll catch you when you
fall, or He’ll teach you how to fly!’

I had a rough Thursday night, right before a comedy show I was pulled over and given two tickets.  I had just talked about not getting pulled over for some 10 years earlier in the day to a co-worker.  Now I have to fork over almost $400.00, actually I’ll take a defensive driving course and pay $111 plus the cost of the course.  My computer crashed, and after spending $100 to fix it, I’m not sure it’s any better.   It’s these small problems that can drive me crazy.  Life is good.

Hang on

“Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.”

Times are tough and scary.  When the going gets tough, the tough get going.  I’ll be spending my summer weekends at The Alamo, working for Discovery Audio.  The audio tour is awesome, come see me  JMD

“We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.”

~ Immanual Kant

I’m not a cat and dog kinda guy, I’d rather have birds and a tank full of fish.  My first and last dog was Baby, a golden brown Cockerspaniel.  She would run away into the city of Midland, across the railroad tracks from our “Big House” on Main Street.  My step-dad would find her, but one time he couldn’t and she was gone forever.

You can tell alot about a community by how they treat animals.  I’ll never understand why people fight roosters or horses or pitt bulls.  I had a great professor who showed me how to respect all life.  If she’d find a bug in the classroom, she scooped it up and set it free outside.   She had turtles and ducks in her back yard.  In her home snakes, birds you name it.

You

-Dad

I was blessed yesterday by Lone Star Grill & Co.   We were wrapping up a live shot when they brought us lunch.  I’ve done news for 10 years and can think of only one other time when someone gave us food.   When we are covering a story or event, it’s unethical to eat and that’s never been a problem for me, but to have someone give us a free meal on the road, what a blessing.  Thanks.
