My mother is so smart and strong,

a woman always by my side

Supporting me no matter what.

When I was but 4 she rushed me to the library and taught me how to swim,

At 13 it was service all the way,

volunteering those summer months away taught me how to give today.

She read my journal in 7th grade,

I was suicidal and the victim of childhood sexual abuse.

What did this blessed woman do?

She quickly picked me up at school and let me know it would all be okay.

This mommy built by God hates a lie,

and taught me to never cheat and steal

Perhaps this is why I seek the truth to pay the bills.

And when I came out a gay man,

more words of wisdom that have kept me alive to this wonderful day.

I love you mom!
